DCVR Neighborhood Chipper Share – Additional Day added to the schedule

Pat and I are organizing a shared rental of a 6-inch chipper for anyone in DCVR who wants to clear their slash without paying the full daily rental cost. This is a first-come, first-served opportunity, and we hope it helps as many households as possible.

Here’s how it will work:

• Everyone has until April 24 to get their slash gathered into a pile that can be fed directly into the chipper.

• This is a chipper-and-gas-only arrangement. Each household is responsible for their own labor.

• Beginning April 24, we’ll run a schedule of 2-hour time slots, with a maximum of six slots per day.

Example schedule: -

9:00–11:00 AM

12:00–2:00 PM

3:00–5:00 PM

• If you need more than two hours, you can reserve multiple slots on the same day or across multiple days.

• Estimated cost is $45 per hour, including gas. This is based on filling all 40 hours of chipping and an estimated run time for a tank of gas.

• Pat and I will deliver the chipper and the gas needed for your reserved time slot(s) directly to your address.

• You’ll be asked to sign a simple hold-harmless waiver before using the equipment.

• Safety gear (hard hat with face shield, ear protection, chaps, gloves) can be provided if needed. Please request when scheduling.

• At the end of your time slot, please clean the equipment so it’s ready for the next household.

• The rental unit has a 40-hour run-time limit, which is why we’re using 2-hour slots—to give as many neighbors as possible a chance to participate.

• For comparison, the daily rental cost for this chipper is $286, not including gas.
